Behnam Samani (Tombak, Daf, Dammam, various Percussion)
Reza Samani (Tombak, Daf, Dohol and various Percussion)
The new Zarbangs first collaborative work, Rengineh was recorded live in concert in Munich. A product of an intense two-day rehearsal period which brought the artists together from various parts of the world, Rengineh reflects each members unique vision and virtuosity on a variety of instruments including Santur (Hammered Dulcimer), and the percussive Tombak, Daf, Zarb-e-Zoorkhane, Dohol, Dammam, Pandariq (Frame Drum), Taas, Nagara, Congas, Djembe, Water Drum, Hang Drum (Melodic Steel Drum), Shakers, Bells, and Toys (Effects). By fusing together these instruments which originate from different cultures, Zarbang Ensemble creates a soundscape which is at once new yet true to the essence and origin of each instrument. Zarbangs new sound entails the use of vocalization, melody and various effects in the context of percussion. The ensembles repertoire of composed pieces and structured improvisations are dynamic; meditative and internal on the one hand and ecstatic and trance inducing on the other, drawing upon Sufi and ancient Iranian rhythms where percussion instruments and specifically the Daf play a pivotal role in inducing heightened states of awareness.

Fire of Passion Improvisations on Tomak, Daf and Tanbur Featuring: Pejman Hadadi (Tombak & Daf)
Ali Akbar Moradi (Tanbur)
These duets are extraordinary. Moradi and Hadadi play entirely improvisational Kurdish music on this album, presenting their amazing skills as one triumphant spirit. Together they soar into wild molten riffs, and then return to earth to depict the sad reality of a people without an independent state of their own
